Phoenix Motors
The first in our manufacturers series is Phoenix Morotcars, Inc. Phoenix Motorcars vision was to manufacture zero-emission, freeway-speed fleet vehicles. After years of researching available components, Phoenix found the right fusion of platform and technologies to provide two best-in-class all-electric vehicles. Phoenix Motorcars uses the revolutionary lithium titanate battery solution to deliver a ZEV for the masses.
Phoenix Motorcars should have two models available by the end of 2008. The SUT is a small cross between a pickup truck and the SUV which is a small sport utility vehicle. These vehicles can travel about 100 miles on a 10 minute charge (using a special 250kW charger) at freeway speeds.

At close to $50,000 they are on the higher side for such a short range, but if their performance is as promised, theyPhoenix Motors SUT are in a zone that should bring them to the $30s or $40s when they reach a 10,000 unit production rate. These do look like very well finished vehicles. A far cry from the ugly electric vehicles that have been marketed by some companies.
Phoenix has pass some crash testing and has many of the necessary things in place to bring these vehicles to production.
Phoenix Motorcars is also listed as an entrant into the Progressive Automotive X Prize competition, although I cannot tell which vehicle is to be participating.
I would look for a lot more from Phoenix Motorcars, Inc. in the very near future.
